Q:
What is the necessary paperwork required by the airline company for the purpose of cargo shipment?

A:
In “Port to Port” shipments, the airline company receives from the agent in the country of origin an airway bill that is supposed to contain all relevant data. The agent usually encloses an envelope with the shipment’s invoices, Certificate of origin, and other documents required for customs clearance at the country of destination.
In hazardous material shipments, the agent is required to enclose Hazardous material declaration.
In “Port to Door” shipments or “Door to Port” shipments, the sender is required to enclose manufacturer’s invoices, a packing list, Certificate of Origin/ EU Certificate (if required). The airway bill will be prepared by the airline company or by the dispatching agent – as the case may be

If I am interested in shipping a certain shipment directly to the importer (without a customs agent at the destination), what should I do?

A:
In shipments to Europe, C.A.L. provides a “Port to Door” service, enabling the sender to get a service package which includes the flight, customs clearance, and transportation to the customer’s house. In order to coordinate such service, please call the local C.A.L. representative.

What sizes of cargo can be shipped with C.A.L. aircrafts?

A:
C.A.L. operates a fleet of B- 747 aircraft with nose and side doors. This fact enables carriage of a wide range of sizes from extremely long pieces through the nose door, and up to 3 meters height through the side door. There are length, width and height restrictions calculated as per special loading dimensions.

What is the definition of hazardous materials?

A:
I.A.T.A .defines hazardous materials as materials, which may cause damage (whether to health, safety, property or environment). There are many ways of packing materials classified as hazardous by IATA, as well as various different ways of shipping by air. Special training and qualification is required to classify, pack, mark and fly such shipments. C.A.L. teams are qualified to handle Hazardous Materials.
